James H. Mason

James H. Mason, a resident of Franklin, Massachusetts, registered for the first patent for a coffee percolator in the United States on December 26, 1865. His design for a downflow method of brewing coffee deeply influenced the work of Hanson Goodrich whose 1889 design for a coffee percolator is still used today.
